About Dawnya Taylor

"I obtained my law degree from Indiana University – Bloomington in 1994. I worked in state government and the private sector in Bloomington and Indianapolis before returning to Evansville in 2001.

After returning to Evansville I worked as a deputy prosecutor in Vanderburgh and Warrick counties before opening my own practice in 2004.

I originally thought that I would be a career prosecutor. That is why I went to law school. However, I am a Christian and it was my faith that led me to defense work. I realized that I could be of more use and a better witness walking through hard times WITH people as opposed to sitting across the room pointing a finger at them.

Don’t get me wrong, prosecutors are necessary and they serve an important purpose in protecting our communities and safeguarding the rights of victims but MY call was to walk with the accused.

I am committed to making sure people accused of crimes are treated fairly and given a voice in a system where they are generally discounted. I pledge to provide the best defense of which I am capable to all of my clients."
